About the role:

At ACU, we are committed to human dignity, the pursuit of knowledge and the common good. We are seeking to appoint an Academic to promote the study and practice of interfaith dialogue between Muslims and Catholics, by designing and delivering units on Islam, conducting research, seeking grant income, and supervising higher degree research students. The Chair also contributes to public and online engagement, as possible, by convening activities, panels, symposiums and/or conferences.

More specifically the role entails:

  • Design and delivery of the faculty's undergraduate and/or postgraduate coursework units in Islamic theology, Muslim-Christian dialogue and related areas
  • Attract and supervise Higher Degree by Research students, in Islamic theology and Muslim-Christian dialogue, design and support the delivery of research seminars that are aligned with the objectives of the Fethullah Gulen Chair agreement.
  • Contribute to academic administration with the faculty as appropriate.

  • Total remuneration valued to $245,618 - $245,618 total rem (pro rata) pa, including salary component $208,457 - $208,457 (pro rata) pa (Academic Level E Increment 1), employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
  • 17% employer superannuation contributions to eligible continuing and fixed-term staff.
  • Annual leave loading of an equivalent to 17.5% of four weeks' salary pro rata payable, dependent on your commencement date.
