About The Libraries Directorate:

ACU's Libraries has a major presence on seven of the University's campuses and provides an online library service 24/7. It serves a range of client groups including students, staff, reciprocal borrowers and community borrowers who have varying information and access requirements. About the role:

As a senior member of the Library Academic and Research Services (LARS) Team, as the Senior Librarian, you'll provide a full range of library services to students and staff of assigned Faculties, Research Institutes and Directorates on campus. This includes liaising with academic and professional staff to ensure staff and students make full use of library resources and services for teaching, learning and research and ensuring the Library maintains an awareness of contemporary curriculum and research developments to enable the delivery of services and the collection of resources to meet changing and ongoing needs.

More specifically the role entails:

  • Supporting researchers at all stages of their careers in optimising their research efforts and outputs by providing discipline-related research support and information services.
  • Delivering effective Digital and Information Literacy training to students and staff.
  • Using feedback from stakeholders to assist in the development and improvement of national Library learning and teaching resources and processes.
  • Providing high quality research consultations, Reference Services and individual assistance to postgraduate students and academic and professional staff.
  • Supporting the strategic direction and reputation of the Library by taking a leadership role in initiatives and projects and being a role model in the LARS team.
  • Providing advice and recommendations relating to policy developments, new projects and other Library initiatives to the Senior Library Coordinator and relevant Library Managers.

You will need to have:

  • A undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Library Science or Information Management allowing eligibility for professional membership of ALIA; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience in the provision of liaison and reference services in a university library or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal, advocacy, communication and negotiation skills, including experience in providing specialist advice, presenting and producing reports and facilitating training sessions.
  • Proven ability to work well both independently and within a team, in a local and distributed environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with client groups preferably in an academic library.
  • An understanding and awareness of contemporary teaching, learning and research issues in the university environment.

Total remuneration valued to $107,300 - $116,130 total rem (pro rata) pa, including salary component $90,670 - $98,131 (pro rata) pa (HEW 7), employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
