ACU's network of libraries provide an online library service 24/7 and serve a range of client groups including students, staff, reciprocal borrowers and community borrowers who have varying information and access requirements. About Client Services:

The Library operates on the service principle of 'One Library, many locations'. Staff at any of the campus libraries collaborate with library colleagues across all campuses in delivering an agreed range of services to achieve consistency in service delivery. There are two organisational units in the Library: Client Services and Resources and Access. The Client Services unit is responsible for the operation of six campus libraries and for the provision of Library services for staff and students at the Adelaide and Blacktown Campus. Client Services staff provide online and face to face assistance to ACU staff and students.

About the role:

As a senior member of the Library Academic and Research Services (LARS) Team, as the Senior Librarian, you'll provide a full range of library services to students and staff of assigned Faculties, Research Institutes and Directorates on campus.

More specifically the role entails:

  • Ensuring the library maintains an awareness of developments within academic and other client groups to enable the library to develop services and collect resources to meet changing and ongoing needs.
  • Collaborating with other LARS team members and teams on the same or other campus libraries, in Client Services and in Resources and Access
  • Working in a national faculty team to provide advice and support to researchers.
  • Applying nationally developed protocols in response to the research and pedagogic requirements of the discipline/s supported.
  • Providing advice and assitance to students to develop their information and digital literacy skills.
  • Contributing to the services provided by the Strathfield Campus Library.

You will need to have:

  • An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Library Science or Information Management allowing eligibility for professional membership of ALIA; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience in the provision of liaison and reference services in a university library or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal, advocacy, communication and negotiation skills, including experience in providing specialist advice, presenting and producing reports and facilitating training sessions.
  • Proven ability to work well both independently and within a team, in a local and distributed environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with client groups preferably in an academic library.
  • An understanding and awareness of contemporary teaching, learning and research issues in the university environment.

Total remuneration valued to $107,300 - $116,130 total rem (pro rata) pa, including salary component $90,670 - $98,131 (pro rata) pa (HEW 7), employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
