We are looking for an enthusiastic Technical Support Supervisor to join our Production and Facilities team.
About the Role
Under the general direction of the Head of Production Operations, the Technical Support Supervisor is responsible for the delivery of high-quality Technical Equipment Store and Technical Course Support. The role advises on budget requirements and ensure relevant budgets are tracked and accurately represent department needs.
Working with the team, the position oversees and coordinates equipment bookings, roster Technical Store and Technical Support staff, as well as supervises the management and maintenance of equipment and stocktakes. This role provides technical advice and assistance to students and staff.
Key Accountabilities
- Technical Support: Coordinate the provision of technical instruction, advice, support and assistance to students and staff.
- Stakeholder Management: Provide advice and manage expectations of stakeholders in relation to resource and equipment allocation in partnership with the Timetable Resource Coordinator to ensure equipment and staff are allocated effectively and equitably.
- Equipment Supervision: Supervise and oversee the booking, management and maintenance of technical equipment.
- Equipment Advice: Make recommendations to the Director, Production & Facilities and Head of Production Operations on technical equipment requirements.
- Management: Provide day-to-day management and assistance to staff, including ongoing two-way feedback, coaching and support to meet and exceed expectations.
- Problem Solving: Identify, review and implement solutions for equipment booking issues. Liaise with relevant staff to resolve day-to-day and more complex equipment booking conflicts and other issues in relation to the delivery of the Award and Short courses.
- Budgeting: In collaboration with the Head of Production Operations, track and forecast budgetary and resource requirements.
- Production meetings: Attend and contribute technical and equipment advice to pre delivery, feasibility and final production meetings.
- Other Duties: There may be a requirement to undertake tasks outside the scope of the responsibilities listed to support the organisation. AFTRS will engage in a conversation should these tasks arise. Occasional night and weekend work may be required.
About you – You Have:
- Production Experience: Substantial experience and knowledge of the film and/or TV production processes and experience in managing equipment resources.
- Equipment Knowledge: A current and in-depth knowledge of equipment used in the film and/or TV industries.
- WHS Knowledge: Knowledge of, and experience with, industry safety requirements and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS).
- Management Experience: Experience leading, coaching and managing a small team.
- Communication Skills: Sound organisational and communication skills including the ability to negotiate conflict resolution.
- Problem Solving Skills: Demonstrated experience in resolving complex issues.
- Resource Management Software Experience: Experience with resource management software and booking system.
- Safe Work Environments: Experience in fostering culturally and psychologically safe work environments.
