Position summary

Case Managers are the point of contact between applicants and the APVMA and they liaise with internal and external stakeholders daily. They undertake a range of non-technical tasks, including management and coordination of stakeholder meetings, coordinating contracts with scientific reviewers and preparing official correspondence for applicants.

Under limited direction, Case Managers monitor and manage a portfolio of applications. Case Managers monitor and facilitate the progress of these applications and assess non-technical applications against legislative requirements. Training is provided for these assessments, but a willingness to investigate and solve problems is desirable.

Overall, the position requires time and workload management skills, the ability to interrogate and respect the confidentiality of records, as well as an ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders. Successful applicants will also be required to develop an understanding of the APVMA’s legislation and operating environment and to apply this knowledge in their day-to-day activities.

To be a strong contender for the role, you will have:

  1. Well-developed organisational and planning skills, including the ability to show initiative, prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and deliver high-quality outcomes during periods of high demand.
  2. The ability to interrogate records and processing systems, identify issues and problem solve to achieve business outcomes.
  3. Highly developed oral and written communication skills that can be applied to liaise with various stakeholders and prepare a range of written documents, including contracts and notices.
  4. Strong attention to detail with the ability to check and monitor work to undertake duties with minimal errors.
  5. Ability to liaise, negotiate and build networks with staff, clients, and service providers and to resolve difficult client interactions.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and under limited direction to achieve business outcomes.
