Overview of the Team

The investment that Comcare is making in data through the program is to modernise our data management platform, optimise data governance, and continually work towards best-practice analytics so that all decisions are data-driven.  

The Office of the Chief Data and Analytics Officer (OCDAO) team is responsible for ensuring that Comcare takes a mature and sophisticated approach to the management and use of data.

Overview of the Role

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Data Governance and embedded in the digital transformation program, the Data Governance Specialist will be responsible for engaging with and providing subject matter expertise to Comcare’s Data Governance Lead and the Digital Transformation Program Data Manager. The Data Governance Specialist will provide strategic support to the digital transformation program by co-ordinating and leading the development, maintenance and embedding of data governance policies, procedures, and related initiatives to ensure the digital transformation program has fit-for-purpose data governance, including alignment to enterprise data governance standards and vision, and ensuring that vendor/s deliver as contracted. 

The Data Governance Specialist will be building upon an existing foundation which comprises a Data Governance Framework, Data Stewardship Network with representatives from across Comcare, and supporting policies and procedures to collaborate with vendor/s and business to identify, improve and create relevant data governance policies and processes for the activities being undertaken by the digital transformation program. The activities being undertaken by the digital transformation program include (but are not limited to) defining and creating data quality measures, validation rules and remediation plans, conducting mapping from source to target, conducting entity resolution, implementing improvements to Comcare’s data management platform, the development of new organisation-wide cloud-based platform, and the migration of data from legacy systems to the new platform. 

Mandatory Experience

  1. Experience in governance, data management, policy development or related areas in the private and public sectors. 
  2. Experience in collaborating and influencing stakeholders including vendors to deliver enterprise data initiatives.

Eligibility and Specific Conditions of Employment

  1. Australian citizenship.
  2. Character clearance (police records check).
  3. Health clearance.
  4. Six months probationary period for new engagements.
  5. Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.
