Overview of the Team and roles

Risk and Analysis Team is the first line of Comcare’s management of regulation of work health and safety for the jurisdiction. The team provides a nationally integrated Notification, Helpdesk and Intelligence capability designed to support the Regulatory Operations Group (ROG) in its delivery of targeted, risk-based regulation.

Risk and Analysis Team is a geographically dispersed team, consisting of two sub-units: “Operations” and “Intelligence and Data”.

Risk and Analysis  – Operations Unit, is primarily responsible for the management and initial assessment of Work, Health and Safety (WHS) incident and hazard notifications and the operation of the WHS Helpdesk for the Comcare jurisdiction. The team also delivers a range of statutory authorisation, approval and licensing services.

Risk and Analysis – Intelligence and Data Unit, supports ROG in the delivery of targeted, risk based regulatory activities through reporting and analysis of WHS data, responding to internal information requests and providing proactive and reactive intelligence to inform Comcare’s regulatory activity.

The APS4 Information Support Officer: 

  • Assists as part of the WHS Helpdesk that provides timely, appropriate and accurate information and support to external stakeholders.
  • Processes Incident and Hazard Notifications, WHS Concerns and Authorisations in Comcare systems in an accurate and efficient manner. 
  • Conducts initial assessments and analysis of incidents by referencing relevant WHS information and intelligence products to inform risk-based decision making. 
  • Contributes to the delivery of information on emerging trends through reporting as requested; and 
  • Provides support through information requests to other parts of Comcare's business as requested.

The APS5 Senior Information Support Officer will: 

  • Process both standard and complex Incident and Hazard Notifications, WHS Concerns and Authorisations in Comcare systems in an accurate and efficient manner.
  • Conduct initial assessments and analysis of incidents by referencing relevant WHS information and intelligence products to inform risk-based decision making. 
  • Assist as part of the WHS Helpdesk that provides timely, appropriate and accurate information and support to external stakeholders.
  • Oversee complex WHS enquiries, including Psychosocial enquiries.
  • Respond to complex Authorisations enquiries.
  • Mentor and assist team members to ensure high quality and timely service delivery.
  • Assist in identifying emerging trends through reporting as requested. 
  • Provide subject matter expert advice on the Information Support Officer role as required for project work, procedural and system changes, requested contributions and testing.
  • Provide support through information requests to other parts of Comcare's business as requested.

Eligibility and specific conditions of employment

  1. Australian citizenship
  2. Character clearance (police records check)
  3. Health assessment
  4. Six months probationary period
  5. Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance
  6. Specific Conditions:
    • Some travel may be required, including overnight absences (expected to be limited in nature – 1 or 2 times per annum)
