Privacy Statement

By submitting a job application you consent to our collection, use and disclosure of your personal information as described below. 

Please read the following carefully and select ‘I accept’ to apply for a vacancy with the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (the Authority) or ‘Back if you wish to return to the jobs page.

How your information will be collected

We collect information from you directly when you complete the online application, We may also collect information from:

• You directly at other stages during the selection process
• Any competency assessment and/or test you may sit during the selection process, and 
• Your referees.

How your information will be used

We will use your information for the purpose of selecting a person to fill the advertised position and in some cases to create an order of merit to fill positions similar to the advertised position.  We will not use your personal details for any other purpose, and will not disclose them, without your consent.

We also use information about job applicants to help us improve our workforce management and our administration of recruitment services.  Your contact information will be retained on the system allowing your easy use of the system in the future.  Any of your other information that is retained on the system is retained for your own reference and will not be considered in any future job applications you may make.

Who your information may be disclosed to

We may disclose your information to:

• Members of the Selection Panel responsible for assessing your application
• The delegate (the agency manager who has overall authority to approve selection decisions)
• Authority staff involved in the administration of recruitment services, people services and personnel functions
• Staff of an external provided if they have been contracted to assist with the recruitment process, and
• Some or all of this information may be passed on to other relevant areas within the Authority or to other Commonwealth agencies including the Australian Public Service Commissioner, the Merit Protection Commission and the Australian Government Security and Vetting Agency (if a security clearance process is required).  
• Any other person with a lawful entitlement to view your application.

If you are successful in a Gazetted recruitment process your name may also appear in the APS Employment Gazette and some of your information (de-identified), which we based our recruitment decision on, may be disclosed to unsuccessful applicants.

Web Recruitment Portal

The Web Recruitment Portal allows you to view and apply for Authority jobs online.  We use the information you provide when registering for Web Recruitment Portal to make it easier for you to apply for jobs at the Authority and to track your progress of your applications on line.
