Managing a reef roughly the size of Italy demands many skills and talents, so you don't have to be a marine biologist to contribute to our mission. From finance to marketing roles, we have a team almost as diverse as the ecosystem we protect. Our commitment and dedication to the Great Barrier Reef and the Australian public have a long-lasting impact, and we are looking for individuals who can bring their unique skills, experience, and knowledge to our high-performing and inclusive organisation.

  • You will have, or be able to quickly acquire and retain, an ability to interpret and apply relevant policy/legislation, ideally in the marine environment.
  • You have an eye for detail and proven ability to manage your own work including competing tasks and meeting timeframes.
  • You will be experienced in negotiation, relationship and stakeholder management.
  • You are resilient, have a strong sense of duty and enjoy being part of a cohesive team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake regulatory compliance associated with Marine Park permissions and the Environmental Management Charge including the research, interpretation and application of relevant Commonwealth legislation, policy, procedures and guidelines.
  • Contribute to the recording, collation and presentation of compliance statistics as required and prepare official correspondence such as informal and formal education, requests for information and advisory letters.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the section, and actively participate in and contribute to continuous improvement of practices and procedures that achieve more efficient business outcomes.
  • Engage and consult effectively with internal and external stakeholders and represent the Authority as required.
