To support our ongoing commitment to delivering positive outcomes for our community, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Access and Inclusion Officer who can confidently contribute and make an immediate impact.
Reporting to our Coordinator Community Inclusion, the Access and Inclusion Officer assists people with a disability and older residents of the Golden Plains Shire to age well, remain connected and meaningfully participate in their community. This is achieved by supporting the Coordinator Community Inclusion to design and implement plans, deliver initiatives and collaborate with Council, community organisations and residents to enhance inclusion, accessibility and participation.
This role will provide you the opportunity to:
- Support the Disability Action Committee (external).
- Implement key actions from the Disability Action Plan Strategic Framework 2025-29.
- Partner with key council departments to lead audits on facilities, infrastructure, and services to ensure accessibility and ensure DDA compliance.
- Work with Health and Wellbeing partners to deliver community-based training and activities to promote ageing well and access and inclusion in Golden Plains Shire.
- Work with partners to build Council and community capacity around accessibility and inclusion.
- Lead projects which build capacity to navigate local services and Ageing and Inclusion services more broadly.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Community Services, Disability, Human Services, Health Promotion, or a related field.
- Knowledge of access, inclusion, disability, ageing, and community participation issues, including an understanding of the barriers and opportunities experienced by people with disability and older people in rural communities.
- Demonstrated experience engaging and collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders, including people with disability, older people, community organisations, and service providers, to develop inclusive and accessible solutions and achieve positive community outcomes.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and deliver projects and initiatives in a timely manner.
