To continue to deliver for our community through our people, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Manager People & Performance to join our leadership group.  

Reporting to the Director Corporate Services, the Manager People & Performance plays a vital role in shaping the organisational culture and ensuring that our staff are engaged, inspired, and supported to achieve our strategic objectives. A significant body of work has been undertaken to establish the strategic direction of the department, with the successful candidate responsible for implementing and delivering on this work through their role as a key advisor and influencer of the leadership group and organisation. 

Leading a team of experienced and passionate People, Safety and Organisation Development Practitioners this role will provide you the opportunity to be:

  • Driving the strategy to build a high-performance culture that enhances service delivery, employee experience, and our reputation 
  • Partnering across Council to strengthen organisational capability through leadership, workforce planning, workplace relations, and more 
  • Leading in the implementation and management of Councils Business Continuity Plan and activities 
  • Developing initiatives that connect our people to Council Plan actions  
  • Inspiring and guiding a talented team to design and deliver end-to-end People & Performance programs covering all aspects of the employee lifecycle  

Our ideal candidate will have: 

  • A tertiary qualification in Organisational Development, Organisation Behaviour or Human Resource Management. 
  • Substantial experience in organisational performance and business improvement processes, change management and human resource management. 
  • A record of achievement in leading the strategic planning, operational planning and development and delivery of human resources. 
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in developing systems and work practices that increase accountability and ensure the planning and resourcing to deliver of Councils goals and objectives. 
  • Demonstrated success in managing and motivating staff and developing a customer-focused, productive team culture. 
  • The ability to negotiate solutions to complex interpersonal problems. 
  • The ability to manage time, set personal and team goals and delegate tasks.
