To continue to deliver for our community, we are seeking an Open Spaces Officer to provide leadership of our open spaces management services.

This role will provide you the opportunity to:

  • Monitor, manage and maintain the Council's turf and hard playing surfaces in conjunction with contractors, and in line with seasonal sporting needs.
  • Maintenance and operation of sport and recreation irrigation systems. 
  • Develop positive relationships with external service providers to ensure delivery of services in line with operational demands, budgets and contract specifications.
  • Conduct inspections and audits of open space assets to monitor conditions and assist the diagnosis of any customer service requests or internal/external stakeholder queries
  • Monitor, manage and maintain Council’s Bannockburn Heart Splash Park in line with state guidelines during its seasonal operation and ensure off-season proactive maintenance is undertaken 
  • Co-ordinate roadside slashing program, including management of contractors and on site auditing quality of works. 

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated qualifications and/or significant experience in a relevant Open Spaces Maintenance discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple contractors across an array of disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, organise and manage own time and setting priorities to achieve targets within a set timeframe and support contract delivery.
  • Well-developed administrative skills to record assets, manage contractors and customer enquiries. 
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communications skills to facilitate quality open spaces maintenance service delivery outcomes. 
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of local government issues, working with communities and community groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets.
