Haileybury welcomes applications for the role of Career Practitioner to join our Careers & Pathway team. This is a Part-Time, Ongoing (0.6 FTE) position, commencing 20 January 2027. 

The Career Practitioner will play a key role in supporting Senior School students with career development, pathway planning, subject selection and tertiary applications.  

 

Key Responsibilities  

As the Career Practitioner, you will: 

  • Support the Head of Careers & Pathways in delivering and developing the Career Development Program. 
  • Provide careers counselling, tertiary application advice and job-readiness support to students, parents and staff. 
  • Build strong relationships with students, families, staff, tertiary institutions and employers. 
  • Coordinate day-to-day Careers Department activities, resources and events. 
  • Provide current advice on tertiary education, training and employment trends. 
  • Support career events, expos and professional development activities. 
  • Maintain accurate student career planning records and resources using Microsoft OneNote and Teams. 

 

About You

  • Postgraduate qualifications meeting the Professional Standards for Australian Careers Practitioners. 
  • Strong communication, counselling and interpersonal skills, with experience developing and delivering career development programs.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and digital technologies.  
  • Sound knowledge of the Australian Blueprint for Career Development and Victorian Careers Curriculum Framework.  
  • Strong understanding of Victorian Senior Secondary Certificates, tertiary pathways, applications and selection processes.  
  • Knowledge of career development resources, assessment tools and labour market trends.  
  • Understanding of diverse educational and transitional needs, including international students and students with additional needs. 
  • Strong information, data management and record-keeping skills. 
  • Innovative problem-solving skills and a solutions-focused approach. 
  • Ability to conduct engaging student and parent interviews, including via Zoom.
