Haileybury is seeking a motivated and hands-on Groundsperson to join our excellent Facilities team in a Full-Time, Ongoing position (1.0 FTE) commencing as soon as possible. This position is rostered Tuesday to Saturday during school terms and Monday to Friday during school holidays, providing variety throughout the year and the opportunity to work across a vibrant and dynamic school environment.

 

Key Responsibilities  

As the Groundsperson you will: 

  • Assist with the establishment and maintenance of high-quality turf, lawns, and sports grounds. 
  • Prepare and maintain sports fields and turf wickets to support Haileybury’s sporting program. 
  • Support the upkeep of plants, grounds equipment, and machinery. 
  • Assist with the maintenance and operation of irrigation and reticulation systems. 
  • Provide event and function support, including general portering duties as required. 
  • Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, in accordance with Haileybury’s standards and timelines.  
  • Maintain accurate documentation and complete tasks within required timeframes. 
  • Follow safe work practices and contribute to a healthy, safe and environmentally responsible workplace. 
  • Must not wilfully or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interest of environmental health and safety or welfare.  

 

About You  

At Haileybury we are seeking exceptional people. We are looking for a team player who brings the following skills and experience:  

  • Understanding of appropriate behaviour’s when engaging with children. 
  • Knowledge of cultivated plants and their care requirements. 
  • Experience preparing sports fields and turf cricket pitches to a high standard. 
  • Competency in turf management, equipment and machinery operation, irrigation systems, and chemical handling. 
  • Experience applying horticultural sprays and fertilisers. 
  • Ability to perform manual handling, maintenance tasks, and use hand tools. 
  • Good physical mobility and able to carry out repetitive and physical activity. 
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence. 
  • Basic computer literacy is essential, including proficiency in email, Microsoft Office applications, and workplace management systems.
