Vacancy Details

Advance your People & Culture career in a business partnering role at one of Australia’s leading independent schools.

Haileybury is seeking a proactive People & Culture Business Partner to join our high-performing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a HR professional who thrives in a true hands-on role, balancing business partnering with end-to-end delivery across the employee lifecycle and rolling up their sleeves to resolve day-to-day people matters while influencing longer-term outcomes.

As a key member of the People & Culture team, you’ll work closely with senior leaders across the Corporate Services, Teaching & Learning, Sport and Student Wellbeing portfolios who have a footprint across multiple campuses. You will supervise a People & Culture Advisor and provide day-to-day coaching, support and development to build capability and consistent service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with leaders to deliver tailored People & Culture solutions, with a strong focus on practical implementation and follow-through.
  • Oversee, lead and manage employee lifecycle matters across your designated portfolios, ensuring timely outcomes and a high-quality staff experience.
  • Provide front-line advice and support on performance management, workforce planning, talent development, and employee relations, including drafting documentation and guiding leaders through each step.
  • Take end-to-end accountability for coordination of activities within your portfolios, including recruitment and sourcing, contract preparation, onboarding/offboarding and employment administration, working closely with aligned P&C Advisors and Administrators.
  • Contribute to the effective use of HRIS systems (Aurion, Synergetic), including accurate data entry and maintenance, and leverage HR data and analytics tools (PowerBI) to generate insights and support data-driven workforce decisions.
  • Conduct investigations and lead grievance resolution, including planning, interviews, documentation, and outcome communication, with fairness and transparency.
  • Coach and support leaders day-to-day to build engagement, wellbeing, and sustained performance in their teams.
  • Champion and drive contemporary continuous improvement projects across the P&C team, enhancing processes, systems, and service delivery.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related discipline.
  • Strong generalist HR experience with deep knowledge of employment legislation and modern awards.
  • Capacity to establish credibility as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, leveraging strong interpersonal and communication skills to influence, negotiate, and build consensus.
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple competing priorities, work confidently with ambiguity, and make sound, timely decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • High attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a practical and strategic mindset.
  • Ability to lead change and deliver innovative solutions in a dynamic environment.

Why work for us?
