The Position: 

Due to the continued growth of the College, we are seeking a Part Time - Permanent First Aid Officer to join our Team. This role will be based at our Melton Campus and hours will be 10am-2pm Monday - Friday.  

 

Key Responsibilities:

Professional

Maintain appropriate qualifications 

Apply First Aid (HLTFA311A) 

Defibrillation, Anaphylaxis & Asthma

 

First Aid Services

Maintain first aid room/facilities.

Treat sick or injured children.

Report head injuries to parents regardless of severity.

Contact parents to pick up sick or injured children.

Treat sick or injured staff members.

Familiarisation and recording of specific medical needs of children.

Informing staff of children in their care who have medical conditions.

Ensure adequate spare clothing available – assist children to change where necessary.

Ensure action plans are current and update for relevant students.

Liaise with First Aid Manger – College Nurse on any new training requirements for staff located at Melton.

Follow the correct medical emergency policies and procedures, may include but not limited to liaising with paramedics and families.

Ensure cleanliness of first aid room, with ensuring stock is kept up to date and placing order with following correct process.

 

Displan/Emergency

Deal with the arrangements associated with emergencies including calling emergency services when required.

Complete all documentation required when calling an ambulance.

Ensure students emergency care kits are taken out to displan locations.

Ensure Emergency First Aid Kit is well stocked and taken to displan locations.

 

Student Welfare

Be aware of children’s emotional first aid needs and refer if necessary.

Identify ‘at risk’ children.

Report bullying incidents that have resulted in the requirement of first aid attendances to the head of school depending on age of child.

Work together with the pastoral care team to ensure child’s emotional and physical wellness.

Provide and monitor use of nail polish remover, shaving cream and razors.  Dispose of razors in the sharps containers.

 

Excursions / Events / Camps

Ensure first aid requirements are met and organised. 

Work with relevant Personal Assistant to ensure the school related activities, this includes, but not limited to, booking the venue, organising first aid to attend (if required), liaising with key stakeholders, liaising with relevant personal to attend, bus organisation is correct has occurred.

Liaise with Personal Assistant to ensure communication to all staff, student and families attending has occurred and have relevant information for their excursion / incursions / overseas trips, including completion of the risk register. 

Ensure school based system is updated and maintained. 

Ensure open communication is maintained to teacher in charge of all excursions/incursions. 

 

General Administration

Ensure documentation of transfer students are up to date and inputted into the relevant database and inform relevant teachers.

Ensure that the photo boards of relevant students are up to date with their photos, condition and action medical plan. 

Inform First Aid Manger – College Nurse of any changes or updates to students and/or their medical / action plans. 

Prepare all excursions first aid kits and ensure teachers are aware of any high risk students attending the excursion.

Monitor and maintain all first aid kits 

Assist in ensuring First Aid duties for events and First Aid stations are covered.

Responsible for archiving and filing of all first aid documentation.

As required, assist in student data maintenance.

 

 

The successful candidate must have: 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Solid organisational skills

Valid WWCC ‘E’ & Police Check

CPR and First Aid
