The Role

Are you ready to make a real impact in your community while enjoying the lifestyle benefits of a stunning coastal location? We’re looking for a motivated and reliable qualified and experienced Technical Officer to join our Planning and Development team. You will play a key role in supporting Council’s direction by providing development assessment services for a broad range of development related works.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assessing development applications and preparing responses in line with Council’s business rules and statutory requirements. 
  • Conducting site inspections for contributed assets, safety, and environmental compliance. 
  • Providing engineering advice to the Development Assessment team on contributed assets through Operational Works. 
  • Liaising with government departments, consultants, contractors, and the public on operational works issues. 
  • Offering guidance on Building Over or Near Relevant Infrastructure (BONRI). 
  • Assisting with asset data verification and maintain GIS integrity. 
  • Undertake compliance-related investigations and maintain accurate records. 

About You:

We’re looking for a proactive leader with:

  • Strong knowledge of relevant Local Government operations and legislative framework, particularly in relation to the Planning Act.
  • Experience in development applications, planning and municipal infrastructure delivery.
  • Ability to plan workloads, meet deadline and provide quality customer services.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Council systems.

Mandatory Requirements to be successful in this position:

  • Qualifications relevant to the duties of the position (e.g. Associate Diploma of Engineering Civil) and/or significant experience in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of municipal infrastructure works;
  • Possess Construction Industry Induction (White Card); and
  • Possess and maintain a current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
