The Role:
Are you ready to use your technical expertise to assist with a wide range of activities and advice relating to Livingstone Shire’s transport planning? We’re seeking a motivated Technical Officer to join our team and play an important role in shaping the infrastructure that keeps our community moving.
In this role, you’ll provide technical and administrative support across a range of transport-related activities, helping to ensure that works within the road reserve are planned, approved, and delivered to the highest standards.
What You’ll Do:
As a valued member of our Infrastructure team, you will:
- Review, assess, and process applications and inspect works carried out by others in the road reserve.
- Liaise with government agencies, consultants, contractors, and the public on matters relating to road reserve activities.
- Liaise with members of the public, as required, to investigate customer requests, and provide information in relation to the status and/or conclusion of customer service requests for various transport and drainage issues.
- Investigate and prepare responses to enquiries and information requests in regards to Heavy Vehicle Regulation permits and works by utilities such as Ergon and Telstra.
Your work will help ensure the safety, functionality, and efficiency of our transport network — making a tangible difference every day.
What You’ll Bring:
- Qualifications relevant to the position (e.g. Associate Diploma of Civil Engineering) and/or extensive experience in municipal infrastructure design, construction, or maintenance;
- A current Construction Industry Induction (White Card) and a valid driver’s licence;
- Strong knowledge of engineering standards, work practices, and technical guidelines relevant to transport planning and construction;
- A sound understanding of Rural and Urban Addressing and standards for Gates and Grids; and
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
