The Role

At Livingstone Shire Council, we’re looking for a dedicated Mechanic to join our Procurement and Fleet Team, where you will work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will possess strong diagnostic and fault-finding across a variety of systems and will play a vital role in maintaining and repairing Council’s diverse fleet of vehicles, plant, and machinery.  This is your opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where your expertise contributes directly to the delivery of essential services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Service and repair a wide range of equipment including light vehicles, heavy machinery, and small plant.
  • Diagnose and maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical control systems.
  • Perform fabrication of minor non-engineered items.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed for asset management.
  • Uphold Council’s values, safety standards, and code of conduct.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Recognised trade qualifications as a Motor Mechanic/Heavy Vehicle Mechanic; 
  • Level C8 = 24 points in addition to C10 (Trade Qualification). This is an additional qualification relevant to position, obtained through post trade training (e.g. Certificate IV or 6 modules towards an Advanced Certificate/Associate Diploma) or the ability to demonstrate skills equivalent to a Certificate IV Level Qualification; and
  • Possess and maintain a current “HR” Class motor vehicle drivers licence.
