The Role

An exciting opportunity is available for an accomplished leader in safety to join our team and help lead the way in driving a strong safety culture where safety comes first!

Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, you will have demonstrable experience in leading a small safety and rehabilitation team to develop and deliver best practice workplace health and safety strategies and systems that promotes a safe work environment and positive safety behaviours.

As an effective communicator, you will collaborate and build positive working relationships across all areas of Council to drive safety performance through identifying continuous improvement initiatives to reduce risks, raise safety awareness and ensure a holistic approach is taken to improve safety in the workplace.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor of Occupational Health and Safety or Diploma of Work Health and Safety or equivalent qualification in a related discipline;
  • Demonstrated substantial experience in a similar role within a large and complex organisation providing specialist workplace health and safety leadership, advice and direction;
  • Proven experience in conducting workplace investigations, workplace rehabilitation, managing workers compensation claims and facilitating effective return to work outcomes; and
  • Possess and maintain a current motor vehicle drivers licence.
