Livingstone Shire Council is seeking an experienced Coordinator Community Compliance to lead our Community Compliance Team and drive the delivery of contemporary, customer-focused compliance services across the region.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a diverse regulatory function encompassing local laws, compliance, investigations, and environmental health support activities. We are looking for a leader who can build a high-performing team, confidently navigate complex legislative environments, and think beyond traditional approaches to achieve practical compliance solutions for our community.
You will play a key role in shaping the future direction of Council's compliance services through strong leadership, sound decision-making, legislative expertise, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

About the Role:
As the Coordinator Community Compliance, you will:
- Lead and develop Council's Community Compliance Team, fostering a positive, accountable and high-performing culture.
- Coordinate the delivery of compliance, local law, regulatory and investigation activities across the region.
- Provide expert advice and interpretation of legislation, local laws and regulatory frameworks.
- Oversee complex compliance matters, investigations, enforcement activities and legal proceedings.
- Support and collaborate with Environmental Health functions to deliver positive community outcomes.
- Contribute to the review and development of local laws, policies and compliance initiatives.
- Develop and implement contemporary, risk-based and customer-focused approaches to compliance.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, government agencies, legal representatives and the broader community.
- Manage operational budgets, resources and service delivery performance.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement across the Community Compliance function.
What You Will Bring:
- Demonstrated leadership experience with a proven ability to lead, coach and develop high-performing teams.
- Strong experience within compliance, investigations, regulatory services, enforcement or a related field.
- Ability to quickly establish credibility and effectively lead within a technical regulatory environment.
- Extensive experience interpreting and applying legislation to complex operational matters.
- Strong understanding of compliance frameworks, governance requirements, investigations and enforcement processes.
- Experience managing sensitive and complex matters with legal implications.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to think strategically, challenge traditional approaches and develop practical solutions to compliance challenges.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental health, regulatory services, law, compliance, environmental engineering or a related discipline.
- Current C Class Driver Licence.
- Local Government experience and experience in local law development, review and administration will be highly regarded.
