Principal Corporate Applications

Permanent Full Time - (QLGIA Stream A - Level 6)

Location:  Yeppoon | Reports to:  Coordinator Information & Technology

The Role

This position supports Council’s direction by being responsible for improving, administering and maintaining Council’s Enterprise Software Applications through providing specialist and professional advice, analysis and support within Council in a professional, efficient and confidential manner ensuring the development of good working relationships with all staff and the public.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee the design, administration and ongoing support of Council’s key systems to ensure they run effectively.
  • Monitor performance, manage risks and ensure applications are available, safe and supported by continuity and recovery plans.
  • Provide guidance to staff, supervise team activities and ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Analyse problems provide expert advice and implement effective solutions for software and systems challenges.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, evaluate new technologies and implement improvements that add value to the organisation.
  • Build relationships with staff, suppliers and users to ensure systems meet business needs and deliver a strong customer experience.

  • Strong technical expertise in managing complex corporate applications, with a solid understanding of system performance, security and integration.
  • Leadership and team capability, including experience guiding technical staff, building capability and delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex issues and implement practical, effective solutions
  • A proactive and innovative mindset, focused on continuous improvement, identifying opportunities, and leveraging new technologies to add value. 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, enabling strong relationships with staff, vendors and users.
  • A customer-focused and professional approach, demonstrating integrity, accountability, and alignment with organisational values and behaviours. 

Mandatory requirement:

  1. Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology and/or extensive experience in supporting complex business applications within a large enterprise environment.  
  2. Experience with Council’s Business Systems or similar systems: 
    • Technology One 
    • Infor Pathway
    • Aurion 
    • Microsoft Fabric, BI Reporting and SQL Database
    • Certification and/or extensive experience with Information Technology Service Management in a large Enterprise complex environment. 

      3. Possess and maintain a current motor vehicle driver licence. 

Desirable:

  1. Experience in a local government environment supporting enterprise applications and business intelligence reporting services. 
  2. Experience with designing, implementing and supporting integrations between enterprise applications 
  3. Programming language similar to Python. 
  4. Microsoft Certification or other relevant industry training.
