The Role
Are you a leader with a passion for creating vibrant, sustainable public spaces? Council is looking for an experienced leader who is forward-thinking and highly motivated to lead a multidisciplinary team and deliver high-quality open space services across our region and to help shape the natural beauty and liveability of one of the fastest-growing coastal regions in Australia.
This key role has a strong focus on team leadership and performance, and champions horticultural best-practice, community engagement, and strategic delivery, this role plays a vital part in ensuring our green spaces remain vibrant, safe, and welcoming for generations to come. You will thrive on delivering continuous improvement through operational planning, stakeholder engagement, and asset management.
You will lead and manage dedicated crews who work collaboratively to maintain safe, high-quality outdoor spaces—knowing that every park, path, and garden plays a vital role in connecting our communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate Parks and Open Spaces services, providing clear direction and support to multi-disciplinary teams to ensure effective delivery of preventative, reactive, statutory, and planned maintenance programs.
- Build a high-performing team culture through collaboration, accountability, and ongoing coaching, feedback, and development.
- Manage minor capital works projects from concept to completion—keeping things on time, on budget, and to the highest standards of quality and compliance.
- Champion best-practice horticulture and landscaping, offering specialist advice and contributing to the planning and design of public spaces across the region.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Diploma in Horticulture and/or significant demonstrated experience, knowledge and skills relevant to the positions requirements and responsibilities.
- Extensive experience with open space management with proven ability to coordinate and monitor work activities of a team, including the ability to provide technical training and mentoring to members of the business unit.
- Demonstrated contract management and relationship management experience including proven ability to manage third party providers (eg: contractors and consultants); and
- Possess and maintain a current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
