The Role

We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Environmental Health Officer to join our team and help shape a healthier, safer, and more sustainable community. This role supports Council’s vision by promoting and preserving public and environmental health standards through proactive education, inspection, monitoring, and strategic planning.

As an Environmental Health Officer, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our community's quality of life by ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and engaging with both internal and external stakeholders to foster a culture of health, safety, and wellbeing.

As part of this dynamic role, you will:

  • Independently conduct inspections, investigations, and compliance assessments under relevant public and environmental health legislation.
  • Provide specialist advice on public and environmental health issues to the community and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead and support public health awareness campaigns and community education initiatives.
  • Investigate complaints and take appropriate regulatory or corrective action when required.
  • Process applications and approvals for premises and ensure compliance with relevant conditions.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications relevant to the position, for example, Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health); 
  • Substantial work experience in a field relevant to the position; and
  • Possess and maintain a current motor vehicle drivers licence.
