Community Support Worker – Temporary Full Time (up to 31 December 2026)

The Role

Council has a new temporary full time position available for a Community Support Worker. This is an exciting opportunity for suitably experienced/qualified applicants who are interested in making a difference to the Livingstone community to be involved as part of a two-year Social Prescribing in Neighbourhood Centres trial! 

The purpose of the program is to support families to enhance their wellbeing by strengthening connections with communities, social networks, and services. The function is ultimately designed to engage families who are at heightened risk of social isolation and loneliness, and address these concerns within community, as a prevention/early intervention approach to broader negative health, wellbeing and social concerns.

The successful candidate will be passionate about the potential of social prescribing in improving wellbeing outcomes for families and will have proven experience developing family and child holistic assessments and knowledge of resources and available local services together with experience empowering families, children, and young people in a planned and structured way to improve health and well-being outcomes.

If you have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders, clients, community groups and employees in a culturally sensitive way when communicating with clients from culturally and linguistically (CALD) diverse backgrounds, then we want to hear from you!

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work/Human Services or equivalent and/or relevant experience and skills from working in a similar role, together with wide ranging knowledge and understanding of the Social Prescribing Link Worker model and motivational and behavioural techniques;
  • The ability to undergo criminal history screening under the blue card system; and
  • Must possess and maintain a current motor vehicle drivers licence.
