About the role

The Business Support Officer position sits within the Lord Mayor’s Office and provides high-quality administrative and business support to ensure the efficient operation of the Office and the effective delivery of the Lord Mayor’s priorities and engagements. The role supports the day-to-day office management, financial administration, correspondence coordination, and scheduling activities, while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail in all interactions.

A little more about the role

We are seeking a highly organised, proactive Business Support Officer with a “can do” attitude to support the Lord Mayor's office.

The Lord Mayor’s Office provides high level strategic, policy and administrative support services to the Lord Mayor and Deputy Lord Mayor. 

All staff within the Lord Mayor’s office work closely with the offices of the Chief Executive Officer, Councillor Support, General Managers and Directors to ensure an effective relationship exists to support the efficient and effective operations of Council. The Division provides high-level strategic and operational support to the Chief Executive Officer, Lord Mayor, Deputy Lord Mayor and Councillors alike. 

About You

We are seeking an administrative superstar with a can-do attitude to join a dynamic team. The ideal candidate is highly organised, proactive, and enjoys problem solving while supporting a busy workplace.
You will be working mostly onsite and taking direction from the Lord Mayor's Executive Assistant as part of a collaborative team environment.

What your experience might look like

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills with demonstrated experience of working in a customer focused environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member to coordinate and achieve day to day administrative responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide administrative support in a multi-function team environment.
  • Well-developed organisational skills and the ability to work in a semi-autonomous environment.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail with proven experience of data entry.
  • Intermediate computer skills especially Microsoft Office and proven ability in utilising in house databases and systems to manage and process work.
