  • $118,141 – 132,962 (dependant on skills and experience) + 11.5% superannuation

About the Role

Are you a visionary arts leader passionate about shaping bold, innovative, and inclusive artistic experiences? 

As the Head of Programming at Arts House, you will drive the creative vision, curation and delivery of a dynamic program that pushes boundaries and engages diverse communities. Leading a team of talented producers, artists, and specialists, you will foster experimentation, champion interdisciplinary art, and create opportunities for new and emerging voices. Your leadership will ensure that Arts House remains a vibrant hub for contemporary performance, aligning with the City of Melbourne’s Creative Programming Framework and Creative Strategy.

In this role, you’ll cultivate deep connections with artists, audiences, and communities, amplifying underrepresented voices and embedding inclusivity at the heart of the program. You’ll shape a program that reflects the values of the Disability Inclusion Action Plan and Equity-Builder anti-racism plan, ensuring that Arts House is a space where all creative practitioners and audiences feel seen and heard. With a passion for storytelling, risk-taking, and artistic excellence, you will be instrumental in strengthening Arts House’s position as a leading force in contemporary arts.

What you will bring to City of Melbourne

  • Demonstrated Extensive experience in creative practice, particularly in programming, producing and/or curation.
  • Deep local, national, and global arts knowledge, networks, and perspective.
  • Experience working in a community and/or sector responsive context with the proven ability to design creative programs and support mechanisms that drive engagement, generate ideas, and support the development of independent artists and the presentation of new work.
  • Outstanding people leadership skills developed through a demonstrated background in leading, developing and motivating a diverse team.
  • Solid understanding of, and experience working with, diverse stakeholders including artists, art organisations, peak arts bodies, funding/sponsorship bodies, community organisations, and local interest and community groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, manage, report against, and evaluate business plans and budgets.
  • Proven experience effectively managing issues within a political and risk-conscious environment.
