The branch works collaboratively across the organisation to support and lead the development of strategies, policies, plans and other projects that shape the city; aligned with legislative requirements and delivery of the Council Plan.

This is a unique opportunity to join our City Strategy team. Your skills, expertise and experience will support the delivery of proactive and sustainable strategies, policies, plans, planning scheme amendments and other projects. We offer an opportunity gain experience in a capital city context, with a commitment from our more senior team members and leaders to support and invest in your growth and development through direct coaching and guidance.

A little bit about you…

With a background in planning, you have a passion and understanding of place and history. You appreciate the importance of community voice and maintain a keen interest in urban trends both locally and internationally. Sustainability is a core value and depending on where you sit in your career journey, you have demonstrated skills in project delivery, from ideation to implementation. 

Working in a large multi-disciplinary team and division, you enjoy working collaboratively to problem solve, explore new ideas and opportunities.  You have an interest and understanding of planning principles and processes, including knowledge of the Victorian planning framework and related Government strategies and legislation.

Position descriptions will be provided to candidates who progress to the next stage of the recruitment process. The remuneration range is set out below, and will be based on skills and experience:

  • Graduate Planner - $71,536 - $82,930 + 11.5% Superannuation
  • Strategic Planner - $85,415 - $96,138 + 11.5% Superannuation
