Your Opportunity

As the Assistant Manager Finance you will be responsible:

  • to deliver the financial accounts of APTC.
  • to provide a comprehensive professional accountancy service that fulfills APTC's statutory, corporate and operational requirements.

This position reports to the Manager Finance.

This is a Temporary, Full-Time opportunity, to 31 March 2025 unless otherwise determined.

The position will be based primarily at the Regional Head Office in Fiji, however, you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.  

The Total Base Salary Package for this role ranges from FJD85,000 - FJD90,000.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle the day to day job performance of the finance staff members and provide regular updates to Manager Finance. 
  • Assist with staff training, performance evaluations and retention activities. 
  • Producing financial reports related to budgets, account payables, account receivables, and expenses on a bi-monthly basis. 
  • Manage APTC cash flow and forecast requirements, 
  • Represent the finance department on inter-departmental teams, including those dealing with managerial issues. 
  • Produce and maintain finance policies and work instructions. 
  • Oversee and ensure effective running of the NAV Finance System. 
  • Participate in budgeting monitoring procedures, forecasting for business and general ledger management.

How you will be assessed

The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:

  • Experience of:
    • 7 years in senior financial accounting roles with supervisory duties
    • 5 years in preparing financial reports and cash flow statements in accordance with internationally recognised accounting standards
    • 5 years in medium to large business environment with decentralised finance functions
  • Proven ability to work independently, often under pressure, and exercise sound judgement in the development and implementation of financial management functions. 
  • Demonstrated experience in operating within a finance environment using computerised finance systems. 
  • Experience in establishing priorities, organising workloads, achieving objectives and meeting tight deadlines within medium to large business such as an education provider. 
  • Advanced skill level in the use of Microsoft Excel and financial software systems. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an eye for detail combined with sound written and oral communication skills in English & local language. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a small and dedicated team, as well as across multiple sites.

Mandatory Qualifications/Requirements

  • Degree level qualification in accounting and CPA/CAA or similar professional membership.

Highly Desirable Requirements

  • Intermediate or advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working within an educational organisation would be an advantage.
  • Experience working on an aid-funded project, preferably Australian Government, would be an advantage.
