Your Opportunity

We have two (2) permanent, full-time opportunities available for Recognition Services Officers.

As the Recognition Services Officer you will be responsible for:

  • providing administrative support across a broad range of RPL management and administration activities and tasks;
  • providing support and guidance to internal and external clients regarding operational matters relating to RPL management; and
  • contributing to the positioning of SkillsTech as the lead provider of trade and technical training through the effective promotion of products and services as they relate to RPL management.

This position reports to the Manager, Recognition Services. 

This role can be based at any TAFE Queensland Campus and may require travel to other TAFE Queensland campuses across the state.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain currency of knowledge and skills relevant to Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) administration and services and gap training, including:
    • a thorough understanding of TAFE Queensland programs, products and services; and 
    • a working knowledge of all applicable legislation, regulations, policies and guidelines to ensure compliance with Pre-qualified supplier (PQS) and Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).
  • Provide high level client service to internal and external clients undertaking RPL and gap training processes, whilst maintaining and managing the progression and outcomes of RPL and gap training activities to ensure the client’s desired outcome is achieved within agreed key performance indicators (KPIs) and contractual timeframes. 
  • Liaise with a variety of stakeholders including representatives of TAFE Queensland, industry, students, employers, and various government agencies/authorities to provide accurate and timely advice to clients and management regarding matters related to RPL, products and services. 
  • Utilise a range of software applications, and student management systems and applications to effectively manage the RPL lifecycle and assist in the development and preparation of reports and correspondence relevant to the business operations and performance of the team.
  • Effectively utilise and monitor information and management systems relating to RPL, including student records, enrolments, results, progression, financial accounts/history and award outcomes, ensuring that the integrity of the data recorded is able to be relied upon to provide timely and accurate information to stakeholders. 
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of processes and procedures relating to RPL as required, assist in the performance of tasks relating to the coordination and administration of the centralised Single Registered Training Organisation (SRTO) activity.
  • Provide general administrative assistance and perform office management functions as required to support the day to day operations of the team, including but not limited to the management of inbound and outbound telephone calls, record management and generic email communications through individual and shared mailboxes.
  • Contribute to continuous business improvement through active participation in the development and review of business processes, documentation and practices as they relate to RPL management.
  • Proactively participate in local Performance Planning and Development (PPD) processes, seeking opportunities for self-development and contributing to the development of the team through knowledge sharing and the provision of support, guidance and collaboration.

How you will be assessed

Within the context of the role description above, the ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:

  1. Sound knowledge, or the ability to acquire knowledge, of legislation, policy and procedures relevant to RPL administration and services, including compliance with PQS and ASQA requirements.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively, including developing rapport and maintaining positive and collaborative working partnerships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  3. Proficiency in the use of a range of computerised systems and applications relevant to RPL administration and services, including the ability to generate reports and correspondence and extract and compile accurate and meaningful data to provide advice to stakeholders.
  4. Demonstrated communication and problem solving skills, including the ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritise tasks, and deliver successful outcomes within specified timeframes.
  5. Ability to effectively contribute to a high performing team, ensuring that all work is completed to a high standard within negotiated timeframes and proactively seeking and facilitating opportunities for self-development.
