The Treasury - privacy and your personal information

IMPORTANT: Do not submit your personal information to the Treasury if you do not want your information to be dealt with in the ways described in this statement.

Your personal information is protected by law, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), which regulate how entities may collect, use, and disclose personal information.

The Treasury is collecting your personal information for the purpose of creating your user profile on Aurion Pty Ltd (Aurion). The personal information we are collecting includes your name (first and last), contact details, and whether you are an Australian citizen. Without collecting this information, we will be unable to create your Aurion user profile, and you will be unable to submit an application or register your interest in an opportunity with the Treasury via Aurion. 

Once registered, you will have the opportunity to amend the information you have provided at any time by logging in using your  email address and password. You will also have the option to add your address and referee information to your user profile. Where you elect to add this information, it will be used to prepopulate the corresponding fields in the application form when you submit an application for a vacant position.

Your personal information will not be used or disclosed for another purpose without your consent, except where authorised or required by law. Personal information may be disclosed to staff and contractors in the Treasury, its Ministerial Offices, and other Commonwealth agencies.

We are collecting your personal information through payroll and HR software Aurion. Aurion customer data is stored and backed up within Australia. You can view further information about how Aurion handles personal information on their privacy policy.

The Treasury’s privacy policy contains further information about how the Treasury handles personal information, including: how to access and seek correction of your personal information; how to lodge a complaint regarding the Treasury’s handling of your personal information; and how the Treasury will handle such a complaint.
