About the Treasury Internship Program
We offer internship opportunities to students currently enrolled at university in or approaching their final year of studies, who are or will be pursuing honours, a masters or PhD in economics, legal, data, statistics or demography studies. As an Intern at The Treasury, you will work on challenging and impactful policies that help shape the Australian economic landscape and contribute to the broader work of the organisation.
Through real work opportunities our program provides you with the chance to:

- develop your knowledge of economics and financial markets, legislative reform and population impacts through meaningful work in your field of study

- earn a competitive casual hourly rate of $39.06 per hour
Eligibility
To be eligible for Treasury’s Internship Program, you will need to meet the following requirements:
- be an Australian citizen
- currently be enrolled at university in your penultimate year, or final year of studies where you will be pursuing an honours, master or PhD in:
- Economics
- Legal
- Data
- Statistics or
- Demography studies
- have performed well over the course of your studies
- be willing to:
- be able to complete internship placement in Treasury offices in either Canberra, Sydney or Melbourne
- obtain and maintain a valid Australian Government security clearance on acceptance into the program
- undergo any police, character, health or other checks required

- is currently enrolled at university in your penultimate year, or final year of studies where you will be pursuing an honours, master or PhD
- has highly developed written and oral communication skills, strong analytical and people capabilities
- can demonstrate skills in influence, initiative,
- can act with honesty, fairness and respect
- brings a fresh perspective to help us shape The Treasury as the Government’s lead economic adviser.
