The Opportunity
We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Worker - Unsealed Roads to join our team. This hands-on role is perfect for someone who enjoys outdoor work and has a passion for maintaining and improving road networks. You’ll play a crucial role in keeping our roads safe and in excellent condition, ensuring that we meet community needs effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance & Construction: Execute maintenance and construction tasks in line with Council’s Road Management Plan and relevant programs.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all Occupational Health and Safety requirements are met and properly documented.
- Equipment Operation: Drive and operate various plant and equipment, including trucks, front-end loaders, backhoes, and chainsaws.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate diaries, work records, and time sheets for all activities.
- Team Collaboration: Work cooperatively with other Council staff and assist with other teams as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience: Previous experience in outdoor maintenance and construction.
- Certifications: Traffic control certification, chainsaw certification (trim and crosscut), First Aid Level 2, and a Certificate of Competency for front-end loader/backhoe operation.
- Licenses: Medium Rigid Driver’s License is essential; Heavy Rigid License is preferred.
- Education: Certificate III in Civil Construction is preferred
